Ministry of Hemp Editor in Chief Kit O’Connell spoke with Dawn Peacock, host of CBD Talk Podcast about recent hemp news in the U.S., including the 2018 Farm Bill. The Farm Bill, recently signed into law, fully legalizes industrial hemp in the United States.

While the Farm Bill represents a huge win for hemp advocates, there’s still more to do before hemp and CBD are fully accessible to everyone. A recent FDA statement about CBD’s legality after the Farm Bill has left people confused and concerned about the supplement’s future in the U.S. Dawn and Kit talk about what the memo really means, and why it could show the FDA is actually warming up to CBD.

After decades of prohibition, hemp is back in a big way in America.

In 2017, sales of hemp products reached a record-breaking $820 million, and that’s just the beginning. Currently legal under state programs, hemp could soon be fully legal from coast to coast, transforming American agriculture.

From hemp food to hempcrete homes to textiles, the uses of hemp are almost limitless.

Among hemp products, demand for CBD oil has exploded in recent years. Unlike THC or marijuana, CBD won’t make you feel high. Thousands of people report CBD helps them relax, relieves pain and anxiety, promotes deeper sleep, and much more.

CBD Myths vs. Facts: The Truth About Hemp-Derived CBD (VIDEO)

Despite its popularity, there are still myths and misconceptions around hemp-derived CBD oil. Our latest video takes a look at the truth behind 5 CBD myths.

CBD myths continue to proliferate despite the growing popularity of this beneficial nutritional supplement.

Hemp’s popularity is booming in America, and thousands of people have discovered the benefits of CBD. However, a great deal of stigma and confusion remain. In our latest video, we take a look at 5 common myths about CBD.

  • CBD Myth #1: CBD will get you high.

Hemp is not marijuana. Hemp-derived CBD products have less than 0.3% THC and will not result in feelings of intoxication. While it’s possible to have side effects from CBD, as long as you use a quality CBD tincture, these are rare and usually minimal.

  • CBD Myth #2: Urinalysis tests only test for THC.

While hemp extracts predominantly contain CBD, they are not completely THC free. It is possible to fail a drug test from taking CBD supplements.

  • CBD Myth #3: You need THC to activate CBD.
Despite its growing popularity, there are still myths and misconceptions around hemp-derived CBD oil. Our latest video takes a look at the truth behind 5 CBD myths.

Hemp contains numerous naturally occurring compounds, called cannabinoids, that interplay to create beneficial effects. CBD can work alone, but when it interacts with other cannabinoids to greater effect, this is known as the “entourage effect.”

  • CBD Myth #4: Hemp-derived CBD is not as effective as CBD from marijuana.

CBD is CBD, no matter the original source. The human body does not recognize whether CBD is sourced from medical cannabis or hemp.

CBD Myth #5: CBD Products are illegal since they come from cannabis.

According to the analysis of numerous hemp experts, the 2014 Farm Bill and other laws and precedents make it legal to possess and distribute CBD oil in the U.S.

Hemp Beer Goes Nationwide: New Belgium Launches The Hemperor (VIDEO)

Last month, we got to try a unique new hemp beer and talk to part of the team behind it.

“We finally brought together hemp and hops,” said Steve Navas, brand activation manager for New Belgium Brewing.

The private bar in downtown Austin where the tasting took place was filled with the incredible smell of The Hemperor hemp pale ale. As we spoke with Navas, the sounds of local bluegrass band Steel Betty tickled our ears.

Over the past few months, New Belgium has traveled the USA sharing their new hemp beer, The Hemperor.

“We’re one of the first breweries to be able to nationally roll out a beer like this,” Navas told us. “This is two years in the making.”

As for The Hemperor? We thought it was delicious. Here’s how we described this hemp beer in our official Hemperor review:

Wow! Powerful green hemp aroma from this pale ale. The hemp adds a nutty, smooth flavor that balances out the hops, especially in comparison to most IPAs. This beer is sweet with a very mild bitter aftertaste.

You can also feel good about your purchase, because one dollar from every bottle sold goes to support hemp legalization. Keep an eye out for The Hemperor at a store near you.
