Thousands of people have learned about the healing benefits of CBD, resulting in unprecedented interest in this supplement. People are using CBD oil to ease their chronic pain, and relieve symptoms of conditions ranging from arthritis to depression. Unlike its close cousin, psychoactive cannabis (‘marijuana’), CBD oil won’t make you feel high — but many users report significant relief of their symptoms. Even the World Health Organization declared CBD oil safe and worthy of deeper research.

At the same time, record-breaking popularity and an unregulated industry make it hard to separate quality CBD oil from snake oil. Especially if you’re new to using hemp extracts, choosing can be confusing. That’s where Ministry of Hemp can help. We’ve reviewed dozens of products and selected the best CBD oil available online today.

In this detailed roundup, we’ll explain more about how to select the right CBD for your needs, and then share the top 12 CBD oil brands for sale online. Read on to see our complete reviews.

Our Review Criteria: How We Selected These CBD Oil Companies

While many vendors offer high-quality CBD oil, there was simply no way to review every CBD oil. Inevitably, we had to pick and choose and some great hemp companies were left off this list.

We focused primarily on larger, well-established brands with reliable, well-designed websites and rock-solid customer service. Every brand featured here makes it easy to get information about their products and easy to find help if you have questions or a problem.

Similarly, transparency is one of our top concerns when it comes to selecting the best CBD oil tinctures. Every product below is clearly labeled, so you can easily understand how much CBD oil / full spectrum hemp extract is in each bottle. You can also easily find the complete ingredients on the bottle, packaging or the company’s website. These brands are also open about where they source their hemp.

A collection of CBD oil tinctures along with hemp buds and a beaker of CBD oil. Out of hundreds of products available online, we picked the 12 best CBD oil tinctures and reviewed each one.
Out of hundreds of products available online, we picked the 12 best CBD tinctures and reviewed each one.

Every CBD product should make third-party lab results available, either online, in their packaging, or by request. At a minimum, each brand here offers lab results showing the levels of cannabinoids like CBD and THC, while others offer additional tests. The more information available to consumers the better. At the same time, we admit it isn’t always easy for newcomers to interpret these lab tests.

Finally, in general, we almost always recommend full spectrum tinctures over supplements made from isolates (extracts of CBD alone). Full-spectrum or whole plant tinctures take advantage of the ‘entourage effect’ that comes from combining all the naturally occurring chemicals found in the hemp plant. Isolates are great for cooking with CBD or consumers that are especially sensitive to the taste of hemp extract, but some research suggests they may be less effective for certain uses than full spectrum extracts. All but two of the brands below are made from full spectrum hemp, and the exceptions are clearly noted.

After careful review, we believe these are all high-quality CBD oils, they are not ranked in any particular order.

Recommended dose is .5mg/1lb of body weight split over 3 doses/day. So a 100lb person would take 16-17mg, 3x/day

Good afternoon. This is a nice breakdown, thank you. However…..still have a few questions for you, since it still eludes my brain.

I have some health things in question. I have RA, Osteoarthritis, cervical spurs, tremors, thyroid, blood pressure, sleep issues and been on an antidepressant since 1998. (tried a whole year, with my doctor to wean off. could not do it. What do I need for all of THIS! lol

Next, my roommate has psoriasis, sleep issues, depression, RA , blood pressure. He has had numerous surgeries – heart, smashed ankle, parotid gland, long term re-flux causing the possibility of throat cancer “down the road”. He has tried a CBD salve, but it is far too greasy for all the psoriasis places.

I have also called a couple places to get some input about what we may need, but they all said they cannot give advice. Then HOW do we know what to get. As for MOST of us, we are by no means well off. Quite the opposite, in fact. So to keep “trying” a bunch of different ones is not an option. Blue Bird in CO give discounts to low income, so would like to use their products if possible.
    Thank you!!

Hi Deborah. I’m no expert but you and your roommate need healing of your leaky gut. I would suggest you purchase a book called Gut and Pshychology Syndrome (GAPS). Get the revised edition as well, and then have you and your roommate go on the gaps diet. There are many online forums to help you through this as well.

No, you *are no expert*–so you have no business making a diagnosis sight unseen. “Leaky gut” and “gluten sensitivity” (as opposed to celiac disease, which is legit) are among the trendy diagnoses du jour. You don’t know these folks’ diets, specific symptoms or official diagnoses. Don’t give me any blather about “Big Pharma,” “suppressing natural cures, “or the “medical industry conspiracy,” either. (“Suppression?” I get my CBD oil from an actual MD, with the approval of my oncologist).

Damn! That little diatribe was certainly vitriolic and superior. I am pretty sure that we are all aware that answers are opinions and that there are NO experts, including you AND your doctor! The medical field is not primarily a science but is, rather, an art.

it seems that you could have expressed your opinions in a kinder way.
She was trying to be helpful to someone who came on here asking for help.
She is allowed to express her opinions and share her ideas just as openly as you are.
However there is a way to do it with tact and class.
In the end the information seeker will evaluate what is said and make their own decisions.
Doctors don’t always get it right and sometimes they get it WAY wrong.

I can’t assist with what you need, but I can tell you that I am a cancer survivor ( 15 years), with Chronic Fibro, arthritis and nerve damage . I was on prescribed pain meds for a long time. CBD has been a life saver. I have tried several of the above. For me, Bluebird is the best so far of them all. In terms of effectiveness , its heads and tails ( no pun intended) above the rest. They do have a program as well , yes. They are pricey . I also like Lazarus’s 25 mg Capsules as well.

especially if you might be allergic to things..
and try it at the weakest strength possible..
its either gonna work or not..

You should look into iodine. It sounds to me like you have plenty of iodine deficiency symptoms, and it is much cheaper than cbd- not to discount the value of cbd oil! Just trust me and go down a YouTube rabbit hole on that one for a minute! My doctor has me on iodine now, and the majority of North American people are deficient.

I have been through four back surgeries, had my sigmoid intestine and appendix removed at the same time a couple of years ago. Numerous other surgeries, too. So, if you are in severe pain and can’t sleep at night due to the pain, I doubt CBD oil, ointment, tincture, pills, whatever is going to cure you, There is a bottle of Hemp Seed Oil 1,000 mg pills (Organic) setting about 1 foot from my righ wrist, now. Behine me is some Wild Lettuce tincture – probably more powerful than CBD. It was used by the American Indians for their pain and introduced to our ancestors upon arriving to the colonies. But, there is also heavy narcotics which came from a Pain Management Physician behind me. Which do you think reduces pain the best? The prescription strength narcotics do. If you are purely a homeopathic kind of person, may I suggest you contact a Homeopathic doctor. If you are in severe pain and can’t sleep, you need to visit a medical doctor, perhaps start with a General Practioneer and let him or her refer you to the appropriate specialist. Been there, done it all. Your well being is what is important and should be important to all of us.

I am a nurse and if you need surgery, you should have the surgery if other problems or further damage can result, don’t put it off. However, get a second opinion, ALWAYS before having surgery. That being said until surgery can be done, if needed, use CBD oil. I have been using it for quite a while now. I need spinal fusion on 3 discs due to Degenerative Disc Disease. They will not heal without surgery and more damage could result if not repaired. I am going through the steps insurance makes you go through before they will approve surgery, (PT, Epidurals, etc).I use Medterra’s 500mg CBD isolate oil and I have experienced great results. I am not pain free but it has made the pain bearable. I also have anxiety and depression and the oil has helped that as well.

Is it important that the CBD oil be water soluble. One brand (not on your list) touts the importance of being water soluble and therefore a higher absorption rate. Their marketing says up to 94%. New at all this so trying to make educated choices.

The brand that is referred to is probably UltraCell…they make that claim, although their product is very subpotent (4.17 mg CBD per ml) which approximates to 125mg per 30ml bottle. It is a strange claim, since cannabidiol does not dissolve in water any better than limestone (check it out in the Merck Index, which lists it as insoluble in water.)

So the UltraCell, which I was skeptical of at first, is 16.67mg/ml which is up there with most. As for their absorption it’s due to the phospholipid bilayer. Basically the same reason soap cleans oils off of us: one side of the molecule attaches to our oils and the other side’s polarity attaches to water. Have a friend give you a few drops and you will see the solubility in water for yourself. Personally I have nothing bad to say about a product that I’ve seen with my own eyes get my teen with Fibromyalgia and Ehlers-Danlos out of bed, even on days with terribly low barometric pressure. I’ve also seen wonders for my younger kid’s anxiety. At the moment they have a patent pending for the technology of it’s absorption. It really doesn’t matter how much CBD the others have if it’s not bioavailable now is it?

15%? Do you mean 15mg per dose? If you look at their bottle a dose is 0.6ml so this would equate to approx 28mg per 1 ml serving. It can get quite confusing when comparing apples to apples and need to compare what each offers at 1 ml.

There’s a BIG difference between hemp oil and cannibanoids. Effective CBD oil is made from marijuana plant not hemp. Read everything you can get your hands on before making a purchase .

Mimi, this is not a 100% true statement. Hemp oil is cold-pressed from hemp seeds whereas the CBD oil is derived from the flower of the hemp plant and may contain very minimal amounts of THC, depending on the strain. CBD oil need not contain THC to be effective.

The prices vary wildly from 29 to 200 dollars. Surely there must be a difference. I can afford a 29 buck mistake. And, while I can also afford a $200 mistake, I just don’t want to. Can anyone explain the varying prices?

I believe the difference in price is due to the difference in potency, amt, or size of the bottles. Or due to a quality product vs not good quality- people just trying to make a buck so they are selling it cheap.

I’m not sure about the science behind what you say, but I know the ‘fact’ stated above about how much CW Hemp has in it is FALSE!

I take it & had to email CW Hemp directly & ask them how much CBD was in the most potent CBD Hemp Extract Oil available online, it’s only 50mg/ 1 ml. Which I might add, has been the strongest I’ve been able to find. Not including isolates, that isn’t the same thing at all.

I have tried numerous different brands of CBD oil, I too have several health issues. CW Hemp has been the only one that has actually made any difference in my health & turned my health problems around. You can get it cheaper through Realm of Caring if you are low income.

After seeing the false claim about CW Hemp this author has made, I seriously question the rest of his information! Readers, DO YOUR RESEARCH VERY CAREFULLY!

Mimi says the effective oils are made from the marijuana plant, not hemp. Why are you rating only hemp oils? Are hemp oils the only oils that do not have any THC? The other question that arises is the difference between ml and mg in measuring the strength of these oils. They are quoted as ml, but there is the question of the “density” limit of 95mg? Very confusing.

There is a lot of confusion out there. Both industrial hemp & marijuana are separate strains of the cannabis plant (hemp is c. sativa and marijuana can be either other strains of c. sativa or c. indica–marijuana has much, much more THC than hemp, which has little-to-none). The site is reviewing only CBD oils made from industrial hemp (more expensive from flower, cheaper & weaker from seeds & stalks) because those are the only kinds of CBD oil one can buy in all 50 states anywhere (not just licensed dispensaries), whether the state allows recreational weed, medical marijuana with an official cannabis ID card, or no marijuana whatsoever for any purpose.

Yes, CBD oils made from marijuana (sativa or indica) can have higher concentrations of both CBD–as well as CBN and THC (the latter is the “main attraction” because it’s psychoactive). But because not everyone can lawfully buy them (and those who can must purchase in person from a state-licensed dispensary) and they’re not available online except to customers living in certain recreational-weed-legal states, they aren’t being reviewed here. Also, MJ-derived CBD oils are not as widely produced and sold.

The reading I have done so far suggests that CBD from flowers and leaves of the plant is more effective than stems. The products I have looked into don’t specify where the CBD oil comes from or it just says hemp plant.

So hemp and marijuana and cannabis are the same thing???

I am so confused with ml and mg and ‘full spectrum’. 300 to 2500 something. What product at what dosage would be a good start for an adult with osteoarthritis? I am on SS so— ‘keep trying’ till you find the right…………. is a costly experiment.

Marijuana & hemp are both cannabis sativa (and some marijuana is cannabis indica). But “industrial hemp” (the only source of CBD lawful in all 50 states, thanks to the Federal Farm Bill’s exemption of it from the Controlled Substances Act) CBD extract products are lawful in all 50 states, can be sold on the open market at any store (not just a licensed dispensary) or online to anyone over 18–regardless of the customer’s or mfr’s state’s medical or recreational weed laws.

If a particular CBD oil or product is available only at a state-licensed dispensary, it is because it contains more than 0.3% THC by volume.

Hmmmm… What was your selection criteria ? While understand what your list is (it draws attention to those particular brands) did you happen to disclose whether you receive advertising dollars from any of them ?

My bigger question is what about analytics ? So many bad lab’s out there in Cannabis and Hemp. Did they test for Pesticides ? Mycotoxins ? Heavy Metals (Hemp is great at dragging up heavy metals from the soil as well as from nutrient solutions, herbicides, etc..). The testing piece is critical and that a lab performs random testing to ensure that the final products on the shelf actually contain what’s on the label. Even good test results mean nothing if the product is cut after the testing.

You also discuss “Full Spectrum” oil vs. Isolates the jury and the data are still out on that point Isolates if done right they remove the majority of contaminants.

    Keep it real and balanced

All I am seeing on this site is this brand is fantastic and that brand is fantastic! I don’t think I could trust any of these with the exception of one. I believe the only way to actually get good quality CBD is from a state licensed dispensary. Everyone else just wants to make a quick buck by jumping on the hype that it is now legal in all 50 states! I have cancer and herniated discs and fibromyalgia, asthma, PTSD, CFS severe anxiety, etc and will be starting radiation shortly. My pain right now is off the charts. I am afraid of most medications and pretty much will not take too many things. So when I get the CBD oil I will do it in front of a doctor to make sure of allergies. It will have to be of high quality and something that will not get me high! The fear of taking something from just any online distributor doesn’t ensure quality. If anyone out there can tell me with the most positive knowledge that a product is what it is then you can let me know. Any recommendations?

Missing here is the specific extraction method for each product. The term “tincture” is used to introduce the article and the reviews…but I know that at least one of the products listed, Nuleaf, is CO2 extraction rather than tincture. The other thing consumers need to know is mg. per drop. The more mg. per drop the less you need to take per dose. Personally, I’d rather measure out 13 drops for my 30 mg. dose than 3 droppers full.

I had a dramatic reaction to my first dose of CBD (a 25mg pill from Verified). About an hour after taking the pill, I was having dinner and suddenly my mind seemed amazingly clear. All anxiety and depression were gone and I felt extremely well emotionally. There is no THC in this product and what I felt was not high. Rather it was total clarity, contentment and more optimistic than I have been in several decades (I am 82 years old). I thought “Wow, if this stuff is going to make me feel like this all the time, I am totally sold.” The next morning I took another pill and it helped greatly with my original reason for buying the stuff — it tamped down the extreme anxiety I had been having. I have been on it now for 2 weeks and have not experienced anything like that first reaction. Please believe me that I have not made this up. What I want to know is if anybody else has had AND SUSTAINED the reaction I had with the first pill.

I simply can’t trust an article that uses two different product names as if they are one.

How can you promote these products when they are not pure but have fillers such as grape seed, mct oil among other additives. Also if you have to buy a product first or request labs that’s not transparency and if they don’t offer a refund then that tells me there’s no faith in the products. This is why the industry has skeptics and those who truly could benefit from a pure quality CBD will never try it.

Please if you know a company called signature Leaf CBD Full Spectrum could someone help me get in touch with them;I’m an senior and dont understand alot about ordering on line;but I have alot of joint pain,I thought I was ordering a deal for 39.95 and when I looked at my bank account statement the company took 77.94 and then took199.95 out of my bank account by debit card and I’m afraid they are going to take more; I’m on a fixed income so it really really made it hard to get through the month,I’m trying to get a hold of the company, but they are obviously not one of the bigger companies,ir dishonest, the product works fairly well, but I will never buy any of it on line again;I did not authorize them to take out that amount from my bank account!!!
